Viejas Easter Egg Hunt
     ALPINE — Come welcome the Easter Bunny and join in the frenzied fun of an old-fashioned Easter Egg Hunt and Fun Festival at the Viejas Outlet Center Park, Saturday, March 15 from noon to 4 p.m.
     There will be fun and games in the park all afternoon, including the Duckling Dash where you could win a $500 Viejas Gift Card. To register for the Dash, simply show a $25 receipt from that day, or you can bring a canned food item or an unwrapped toy for the East County Food and Toy Drive and you’re eligible to participate.
     Egg Hunts are broken up in to different age groups.

Caregiver program
     DESCANSO — The Grossmont Hospital Caregiver Resource Center will host a caregivers program on Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m. at the Descanso Library. The program will will cover the emotional issues of general caregiving for seniors.

Bloodmobile visit
The San Diego Blood Bank bloodmobile will accept blood donations at an open to the public blood drive will take place at the Alpine Woman’s Club, 2156 Alpine Blvd., Saturday, March 15, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The bloodmobile will be parked in the parking lot.
Another drive will be hosted by Viejas Casino, 5000 Willows Road, Alpine, Tuesday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The bloodmobile will be parked in the parking lot of DreamCatcher at Viejas.

Easter egg hunt
ALPINE — Christ the King Episcopal will host a children’s Easter Egg Hunt, sack race, egg and spoon race and other fun activities on Easter Day, March 23, following the 10 a.m. church service, 1460 Midway Dr., Alpine, CA. Kiwanis events
ALPINE — Each spring the Alpine Kiwanis sponsor three events that raise more than $40,000 for youth projects in the Alpine community and Children's Hospital.
The first event is the 54th Annual Carmelo Manuele Easter Breakfast on Sunday, March 23, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Alpine Elementary School Auditorium at 1850 Alpine Blvd. Cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children).
The next event is the 2008 Alpine Challenge bike ride on Saturday, April 26.
The ride includes novice routes up to a 72-mile event that goes to Pine Valley and back. A noted international rider, Andy Hampsten, will be riding in the long distance route this year. You may register and get more information at www.AlpineChallenge.com.
The third event is the 18th Annual Vintage Alpine wine tasting and food event on Sunday, May 4, at Summers Past Farms, 15602 Olde Highway 80. Tickets for this popular spring party start at $40 per person purchased prior to March 24, and climb to $50 if purchased at the door. Tickets can be reserved early by going to the Alpine Kiwanis web site and click on Vintage Alpine.

Career Day
     ALPINE — Joan Mac Queen Middle School will host its second annual Career Day for all seventh graders on Friday, March 14, from 9:15 to 11 a.m.
     During this event business people from the community have been invited to share their expertise with our students, speaking about their education, training and acquired skills that are used in their daily occupations.

Minutemen highway clean up
     CAMPO — The Campo Minutemen are gathering for a “Campo Minutemen Highway Clean-up on Saturday, March 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Oak and Buckman Springs Road, Campo.
Since 2006, the Campo Minutemen have removed 14,000 pounds of trash. Please bring gloves, warm jacket and comfortable shoes reflector vests and trash tongs will be provided. Lunch will be provided, courtesy of the Campo Minutemen at the Campo Diner.

ALPINE — Several events are coming up in the next few months, hosted by the Back Country Land Trust.
On Saturday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to noon will be a Wright’s Field Work Day: Only one more work day to finish the fence project. Meet at the northern end of fence. Bring work gloves, water and wear sturdy shoes.

On Sunday, March 16, from 5 – 6:30 p.m. there will be a Sunset Walk in Wright’s Field. Join Geography Professor Michael Wangler for a sunset walk in Wright’s Field to explore its six habitats and appreciate the first wildflowers of spring. End with a nice sunset overlooking the native grassland.

Spring Tennis camp
ALPINE — The Alpine Community Center will offer a “Spring into Action” tennis camp March 17 through 21. The five-day camp will consist of tennis instruction for youngsters offered by teaching pro, Rene Toscano, and experienced teaching assistants.
Also, regular spring season tennis classes start the first week of March and end May 31. Classes are offered for all age groups, and player ability levels.

monthly hike
ALPINE — The Alpine Planning Group Trails Subcommittee will host its monthly hike on Tuesday, March 18 at 10 a.m. at the Crestridge Ecological Preserve.
From center of Alpine, go 2.2 miles west on Arnold Way to Harbison Canyon Road. Turn left and go 2.1 miles to Frances Drive (which becomes Mountain View Road). Turn right and continue 1.6 miles to Horsemill Road. Turn right and go to end, parking in the cul-de-sac.
