ACC holds spaghetti dinner and bingo
ALPINE The Alpine Community Center will hold a spaghetti dinner and bingo night on April 14 from 4 to 9 p.m.
Spaghetti dinner includes salad, spaghetti, garlic bread, dessert, and one ticket for a free drink. Cost for adults is $7, seniors, $5 and children under 12, $3. Bingo cards will be sold at the door for $1 each.

Kiwanis holds annual Easter breakfast
ALPINE The Kiwanis Club of Alpine will hold its 52nd Annual Carmelo Manuele Easter Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, April 16, from 7 a.m. to noon.
Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, juice, coffee and milk, and the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos.
The annual event is held at the Alpine Elementary School Auditorium located at 1850 Alpine Blvd. Tickets are $5 donations for adults and $2 for children, 12 years and under.
Tickets may be purchased at Alpine True Value Hardware, The Alpine Chamber of Commerce, from any Kiwanian or at the door.
Committee to discuss new high school
ALPINE The Alpine High School Citizens Committee will meet Monday, April 17 at 7 p.m. at the Alpine Community Center.
Grossmont Union High School District superintendent Terry Ryan and other district trustees will be on hand at the meeting to update the public on the search for a school site in Alpine and answer questions from attendees.

Woman's Club holds Garden Fest
ALPINE The Alpine Woman's Club will host the third annual Town Hall Garden Fest on Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 2156 Alpine Blvd.
There will be plants, natives and cuttings available for purchase as well as crafts presented by Alpine Country Gifts and Crafts.
Free dental sealants and fluoride varnish
SPRING VALLEY The Grossmont Health District will be providing free dental sealants and fluoride varnish for children up to age 18 with no dental resources. The event will be held Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Grossmont Spring Valley Family Health Center, 8788 Jamacha Road.
Each child will receive one service, wither sealants or varnish, and a parent or guardian must accompany each participant.

Back Country residents invited to dispose of hazardous waste
ALPINE There will be a hazardous waste disposal day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 29, at Bethel Assembly Church, 1929 Arnold Way, in Alpine.
Anyone who lives in the unincorporated area is welcome to bring up to five computer monitors, 15 gallons of hazardous liquid, or 125 pounds per household. For further information, one may visit the

Kiwanis Club participates in walk for MS
SAN DIEGO The Kiwanis Club of Alpine is sending a team, the Alpine Trailblazers, down to the Embarcadero on Sunday, April 30 to participate in the 2006 MS Walk. Walkers have their choice of taking a 5K or 10K stroll along the San Diego Bay while raising money to help those who suffer from Multiple Sclerosis.
The Alpine Trailblazers are looking for additional team members or those who would like to pledge them with a donation. If you would like to walk or sponsor this team please call team captain, Jan Herold at 445-5255.
Vintage Alpine wine event coming in May
ALPINE The 16th Annual Vintage Alpine event will be held May 7, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Summers Past Farm located at 15602 Olde Highway 80 in Flynn Springs. The Kiwanis Club of Alpine is hosting the annual fund raising event for the children of East County.
The afternoon will include a silent auction plus raffle items. Several well known local and San Diego restaurants, as well as local, California, and foreign wineries will be in attendance.

Lions hold Easter egg hunt
EL CAJON The Harbison Canyon Lions will hold an Easter Egg Hunt for local children at noon on April 15 to gather eggs and enjoy old-fashioned fun, such as an egg toss and other activities.
There will be a silent auction to raise money to help fund two Harbison Canyon Lions scholarships of $500 each, as well as other Lions' charities.

Homemakers hold bag sale
CAMPO The Mountain Empire Homemakers thrift store will hold its annual bag sale the weekends of April 20 through 22 and April 27 through 29.
Customers may visit the store, located on Sheridan Road near the community center building in Campo, and buy a full bag of goods for only $3.
The proceeds to are used to provide scholarships for graduating seniors from Mountain Empire High School.

JMMS students reach out to Katrina victims
ALPINE Joan Mac Queen Middle School will host the Give Wings to Ocean Springs, buy one get one free, book fair, April 24 to 28 from 7:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school's library.
The JMMS students are reaching out to students at Ocean Springs Middle School in Ocean Springs, Miss., whose school was affected by hurricane Katrina. The hope is, that many students will donate their free books to the school in Mississippi.
Grades will have a friendly competition to see which level can donate the most books. The students will also have a table to send cards or letters to the students in Mississippi if they would like to. Help is needed in covering the shipping costs so a donation jar will be placed at the fair.
Parents and community members are encouraged to stop by the book fair, just be sure to stop by the office and sign-in.

Second I Love a Clean Alpine coming soon
ALPINE The second annual I Love a Clean Alpine, event will take place Saturday, April 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participants will meet at the triangle in the center of town, 2157 Alpine Blvd. at 8:30 a.m. for registration and a free continental breakfast hosted by the Alpine Stagecoach Lions.
All those interested are encouraged to bring friends, family, and neighbors to help in cleaning up Alpine.
Wellness fair to focus on lifestyle
PINE VALLEY Information on health, community resources and fun for the entire family will headline the first annual Mountain Empire Community Wellness Fair. Admission is free and open to the public. The event will be held at Mountain Empire High School on Thursday, May 18 from 5 to 7 p.m.
The Wellness Fair will feature a variety of health and safety information plus games and entertainment including a rock climbing wall, Astro-jump and live music.
Free healthy food snacks and drinks will be offered, as well as various health screening tests for the entire family. The Mountain Empire area Fire and Sheriffs departments, the Southern Indian Health Council, and the Mountain Health and Community Services will man interactive booths at the event.
Mountain Empire High School is located at 3305 Buckman Springs Road in Pine Valley.

Novelty Dog Show will take place June 3, from 9 a.m. to
