AUSD considers expanding alternative energy projects at local schools
     At the April 13 Alpine Union School District (AUSD) board meeting, members were presented with a proposal to install solar panels at two local schools. The board has one month to decide whether to move ahead with the project. The rush is fueled by a possible rebate that the district could receive from the San Diego Regional Energy Office (SDREO) through it’s self generating incentive program...MORE

Wind farm project first of three planned
     Construction of a $80 million wind turbine project on trust land controlled by the Campo Band of Kumeyaay Indians will get underway in early May with a planned line upgrade. The wind farm is expected to generate up to 50 megawatts of electricity per year for San Diego Gas & Electric. To support the additional energy that will be produced by the wind farm, SDG&E plans to improve its lines from the site, replacing wires with heavier duty conductor cables. Wind farms are also planned for McCain Valley, Shockey Truck Trail, and Table Mountain areas....MORE
