Then and now: area long-timers remember when
Once upon a time, there was a streetcar without wheels right in the center of Alpine. Pat Heyser of Alpine remembers it because it was her grandparents, Warren and Emma Foster, who bought that streetcar from a man named Sherman. He had moved it to the village near an old stagecoach stop and sold ice cream, cold sodas and sandwiches to passing motorists.
Drug crash brings pot seizures to 13,000 pounds
Agents with Customs and Border Protection seized 551 pound of marijuana around 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, after a low speed chase that originated in Boulevard and ended in Campo.
