Historic buildings open this weekend
ALPINE – Three historic buildings will be open for viewing this weekend, Feb. 26 and Feb. 27 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Alpine. This opportunity is being provided by the Alpine Historical Society and the Alpine Woman’s Club, 2156 Alpine Blvd. The Alpine Historical Society museum is located at 2116 Tavern Road.
The Alpine Woman’s Club will hold its monthly open house. This building is the original Alpine Town Hall, built in the 1890’s.

Cemetery Association meets
Monday
ALPINE — The Alpine Cemetery Association will hold its annual general meeting at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 28, at the Alpine Community Center.
Anyone within the Alpine Union or Mountain Empire Unified school district boundaries is eligible to purchase plots in the cemetery and any who automatically become members of the association and may help elect the board of directors.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary
announces upcoming events
ALPINE – The Alpine VFW Ladies Auxiliary will hold a meeting on Mar. 5 at 9 a.m. with a follow up meeting to be held Mar. 12 at 11 a.m.
On Thursday, Mar. 17 the Ladies Auxiliary will host a corned beef and cabbage dinner. The cost is a $5 donation and doors open at 3 p.m. On Saturday, Mar. 19, beginning at 10 a.m., will be the Rough Riders 4th annual Veterans Benefit dinner. The event will feature musical entertainment and dinner.
Saturday, Mar. 26 will be the day for the 26th Poppy Drive at Daniel’s Market located in Alpine Creek Shopping Center. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Karaoke night at the VFW is every Friday evening and burgers are served 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday.
Disney
Quiz Night to aid kindergarteners
ALPINE – The PTA for Creekside Early Learning Center at
Alpine’s All Kindergarten school is sponsoring “Disney
Quiz Night” on Friday, Mar. 11. Disney Quiz Night will
entertain about 300 people and raise money to support the
non-profit organization’s plan to buy kindergartner new playground equipment.
Contributions are also welcomed
from businesses and corporations, including items that can
be used in the silent auction. Donors will be recognized in
the program, and those who donate over $200 will be
prominently featured in the program.

Historical society holds potluck
lunch
ALPINE – The Alpine Historical Society invites the community to a potluck luncheon this Sunday, Feb. 27, at the Alpine Mobile Home Estates Clubhouse, 2400 Alpine Blvd. Lunch will begin at 1 p.m. and guest Betty
McMillen, Vice President of the Lakeside Historical Society and a three time Past President, will speak at 2 p.m.
McMillen will discuss the history of Alpine and Lakeside and the restoration of their historic district. A 30-minute video will be shown.

Home and Garden Spring show scheduled
ALPINE – The Alpine Country Gifts and Crafts presents its 11th annual Home and Garden Spring
Show, Mar. 3-6 at the Alpine Woman’s Club.
The event will feature exclusive and unique items added daily from more than 30 dealers. Hours are Thursday 4 to 7 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Woman’s Club is located at 2156 Alpine Blvd.
Bloodmobile
to visit Viejas
VIEJAS – The San Diego Blood Bank Bloodmobile will accept
blood donations at a public blood drive hosted by Viejas
Casino, 5000 Willows Road, Alpine, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday,
Mar. 4. The drive will be held in the DreamCatcher room at
Viejas.
All donors will be awarded a limited
edition “every drop counts” T-shirt, a voucher for a
free car wash, a voucher for a free haircut, and other
rewards.

VFW to host annual Easter egg hunt
CAMPO – The Campo VFW will hold its annual community Easter egg hunt, Saturday, Mar. 13, at noon. Following the Easter egg hunt a bicycle rodeo will be held at 1 p.m.
There will be lots of food available for a nominal fee. Hot dogs, soda, coffee, nachos, and will include an Auxiliary Bake Sale for your sweet tooth.
You may become a member of the VFW and the ladies auxiliary if you, your spouse, or immediate member of your family has served in a foreign war.
Boulder
Oaks to host Western Days
ALPINE – The Boulder Oaks Elementary School PTA is hosting
Western Days Carnival for the youth of Alpine on Friday,
Apr. 15. The evening will include games, a rock wall, a
cakewalk, good music, great food and a silent auction.
The program will raise money for
the 460 students at the school. Local businesses are
encouraged to help by donating goods or services.
