Speakers thwarted in choice of local planner
The Alpine Planning Group filled the vacant seat created by the departure of Harold Cox at the last meeting held May 26. Pat Cannon was voted in by board members, upsetting the obvious community favorite, Linda Richards.
Marine, daughter of local pioneers, dies at age 82
Betty Noble was a woman of whom the town could be proud; a woman who had served her country and her community all her life; and a woman who helped define Alpine’s history.
Noble, who would have been 83 years old this September, died in Hilton Head, South Carolina, where she had traveled in late February to play in a Women Marines Golf Tournament.
Airport authority to collect siting comments online
Area residents who are concerned about a possible airport in the Boulevard/Campo area will soon have a chance to take part in countywide discussions on the subject. The San Diego County regional airport authority will launch a web dialogue beginning June 6 where residents can openly discuss the future site for the international airport.
