Judd ordered to cure problems in his complaint
The Mountain Empire Unified School District voted on Wednesday, May 11, to keep the Applied Science and Technology Academy open and fix several problems brought forward by superintendent Patrick Judd.

Local deputies host multi-agency bus crash drill next Tuesday
A mock bus rollover is planned for May 24 in Crest from 9 a.m. until noon.  Students and parents will participate in the crash as victims and bystanders.

Teens are catch of the day at Fish Camp 
Local businessman Tom Dyke II has provided the funding for Alpine's Fish Camp, an opportunity for local teens to gather and learn about the great outdoors. Activities include cooking, hiking and camping. 

Picnic for peace takes place this weekend
The Alpine Community Church will host a picnic on Saturday, May 21.  People are invited to bring a picnic lunch and a lawn chair to the Alpine Community Park, where they can listen to guest speakers, including Clay Two Bears, spiritual advisor to the Donovan Prison System,  talk about their peace efforts.

             Japan students from visit program raise $10,000 for local fire victims
Students from Tokyo, Japan raised funds to help the victims of the devastating 2003 fires in San Diego County.  These students, members of the Group Home Stay Program, have visited Alpine in the past and fell in love with the Back Country.  They will visit again this summer.
