Burning permits
required in rural areas
BACK COUNTRY — State and local laws require you to obtain a
burning permit for most outdoor fires throughout the rural
areas of San Diego County.
Some conditions and requirements for burning are:
burning during designated burning hours, calling in with
permit number, and address, and to inquire about burn status
or temporary suspensions, keeping smoke to a minimum, and
clearing all fire hazards around the piles.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire
Protection reminds that hazardous fire weather conditions can
occur at anytime, winter or summer, and permits are required
year round.
