The case of the disappearing palms
ALPINE — Many Alpine residents have no doubt noticed the new landscaping at Alpine Tobacco shop, in the center to town: Patio chairs and tables surrounded by palms, for patrons and people watchers.
Unfortunately, the palm trees have been slowly disappearing over the past month. According to shop owners, 13 plants have been stolen from the property in the past month. The thieves are removing the plants only, leaving empty pots at the site.
Owners are offering a $300 reward for anyone who can help them find the culprits. They have also installed surveillance cameras on the premises.
If you have any information about the case of the disappearing palms, contact Alpine Tobacco at 659-2832.
