Pierce takes reins of local land trust 
School Board member Ann Pierce, succeeding Don Hohimer of the Back County Land Trust is taking control. She plans to focus on hands on management, expanding education programs and stronger involvement with local youth. 

Rattlesnake poison vaccine may be dog lifesaver
Crotalus Atrox, developed by Red Rock Biologics is the latest rattlesnake vaccine for dogs. It protects against the venom of six out of seven rattlesnake bites as well to many other venomous snakes native to areas that surround California. The vaccination has been available since December 2004, and is great for dogs who live in rattlesnake country or for the dog who just loves to hike. 

Descanso fair heralded with enthusiasm
The Descanso Annual Parade and fair began on July 8th at 9 a.m. with two antique tractors followed by a horse drawn cart, traditional bag pipers dressed in formal Scottish attire, and accompanied by local business owners. There were also many other various activates for children, and the event was met with enthusiasm by all.
