Grossmont committed to building local high school 
     The Grossmont Union High School District Board of Trustees is in the process of reviewing the on-line survey regarding the twelve proposed sites for the new high school. Many Alpine community members are concerned that GUHSD has been hedging away from its commitment to build a new high school in Alpine, but GUHSD board member says otherwise...MORE

Local student enrollment numbers are down

    
The results are in. GUHSD is definitely in a declining enrollment period. According to a report, in 2005-2006 they had 22,122 students enrolled in the district, and for 2010/2011, they are projecting 19,743, or a 10.8 percent drop in five years...MORE

Star Ranch proponents asked to scale down project 
     The Campo Lake Morena Community Planning Group reiterated its request that Star Ranch development proponents scale down the massive project application by half. The July 17 vote followed a presentation that included a lengthy discussion of possible plans to build a valley-wide sewer district and divert Campo Creek water that proponents believe is not being used by downstream recipients, including Mexico...MORE
