APG seats new member, continues park debate  
The newest member of the Alpine Planning Group officially joined the 15-person advisory council at last Thursday’s meeting. Immediate past chairman Mark Price, sitting at the helm of the group for the evening due to the absence of chairman Jim Mowry and vice-chairman George Woods, led new member Christopher Ramey in his oath of office.  

Campo planners, packed house, hear traffic update  
The monthly meeting of the Campo/Lake Morena Planning Group saw a lively discussion among board members, guest speakers and a packed house. The crowd asked numerous questions and sparked vigorous dialogue. 

Charitable acts lead to reduced insurance fraud convictions
An Alpine couple has been placed on three years probation after pleading guilty to providing inaccurate information to a state agency about their construction company’s employees. The information was used to determine the premium rate and lower the cost of their workers' compensation insurance policy.   

Old 80 to be celebrated as historic route
Oct. 21 will be a glorious all-day celebration when East County officially welcomes Old Highway 80 as a California Historic Route. The ribbon cutting will take place in Seaport Village, marking the actual location where the old highway began. There will be speeches, of course, and the new roadside signs will be unveiled.

Residents warned of locally active con man  
There is a con man working in the East County. His name is Alex Mitchell and he is doing business as A-One Asphalt and Concrete Maintenance. 

Kiwanis walks for M.S
On April 30, the Alpine Kiwanis Club sent a walking team down to The Embarcadero to participate the Annual Multiple Sclerosis Walk. The Kiwanis Club has been sending at team down to The Embarcadero for four years.
