Tough calls fruitful for local filmmaker 
When Rod Magdaluyo started playing around with filmmaking in 1995, using a Sony camcorder and his computer to make short dramatic pieces with friends as actors, he didn’t expect to turn it into a career. 

Easterling sworn in as newest member of planning group
A seat on the Alpine Planning Group, which has remained empty for several months, was filled last Thursday as Jim Easterling was sworn in, by former chairman Mark Price. His confirmation to the seat has been months in the coming and has spurred much controversy in the community.

Residents’ concerns not derailed by Carrizo presentation

Many residents were left unsatisfied after a presentation from Carrizo Gorge Railway, Inc. representatives, at the Campo/Lake Morena Planning Group meeting held Monday night, Feb. 27. The presentation by railway Vice President Byron Wear, was intended to address community concerns, however, residents were largely unhappy with the responses.

A driver who crashed his sport utility vehicle into another car after driving off from an immigration inspection in Pine Valley was sentenced Feb. 21 to 109 months in federal prison.  

ALFA hosts tour of Anne Frank’s home
It looks like a regular bookcase, but when the docent moves it, visitors to the Anne Frank House reconstruction discover that the bookcase is the entrance to a 16- by 18-foot, two-room structure with an access hallway, a small bedroom and a living room/kitchen/dining area.
