The Alpine Planning Group voted, at its April 27 meeting, to ask the county to study those of the community’s lands that fall into the area of influence of the Forest Conservation Initiative.

A transient pleaded guilty to recklessly setting a brush fire that burned 35 acres in Julian on Feb. 8. 

Agents rescue pregnant woman at border
U.S. Border Patrol agents from the El Cajon station said they received information Sunday from a 911 dispatcher that a Spanish-speaking man and a pregnant woman were lost in the mountains. The caller said the woman appeared to be in labor and was going in and out of consciousness.
 
Kiwanis events raise $41,000 for charities 
The Alpine Kiwanis and local deputies teamed up Saturday, April 29 to hold the Annual Alpine Challenge and the Alpine Sheriff’s Bike Fair.
