El Cajon man arrested after SWAT stand-off
At around 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, deputies received reports of someone shouting, “He’s stabbing me!” in the unincorporated area of El Cajon. Deputies responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Persimmon Avenue.
Owners to demolish portion of Alpine Creek Shopping Center
Long-rumored plans to tear down a portion of the alpine Creek Shopping Center were unveiled at last Thursday’s meeting of the Alpine Planning Group. Tom Adam, of Nadel Architects, Inc., presented the plans for the demolition of two buildings and construction of a new Longs drug store on the site.

New teacher contract ends two years of Grossmont district battles
After nearly two years, much discussion, and several protests, a new employment contract was finally signed between the Grossmont Union High School District and its teachers’ union. At a board meeting held April 20, which had its own share of heated debate, district trustees unanimously ratified the new contract agreement.
