Planning group rejects
county parks analysis
Parks were the hot topic at the last Alpine Planning
Group meeting held Oct. 26. Planning group members discussed the
proposed Parkland Dedication Ordinance (PLDO) fund increase, as
well as the second Alpine Parkland Suitability Analysis.
AUSD board says goodbye to 20-year member
The
Alpine Union School District board of trustees met on Wednesday,
Nov. 8, to bid Mary Wiggins and Steve Hunyar a very fond
farewell. Also, the new Excel program was explained and
discussed at length.
Make a difference for local families, one bag at a time
It’s that time of year again — time for the local Gift
Bag Drive. Local realtor, Jeff Campbell is now in the 10th year
of coordinating “The Gift Bag Drive.” This year more than 30,000
bags will be distributed to residents to be filled.
Cross country biker raises money for cancer
George Mendes and his friend Jan Winters stopped by the
Alpine Sun office last Thursday morning en route to the west
coast to raise money and awareness for the Lance Armstrong
Foundation and cancer research. Mendes started cycling across
America on Sept. 9 in St. Augustine, Fla., making his way 3,378
miles to Alpine before rolling down the hill to San Diego.
