announces presidential plans
“As chairman of the Armed Services Committee, I want you
to know I’m going to do everything I can to continue to make our
country the strongest in the world… And while I’m doing that —
while we’re doing that together as a nation, there’s something
else that I’m going to be doing, and that’s why I wanted to talk
to you today.”
Local voters cast their ballots for representatives
Alpine residents
showed up in droves to vote in this year’s midterm elections.
For many the focus was local races including planning groups and
school boards. While 200,000 county-wide absentee ballots still
remain to be counted in the next few days, many races have
already been decided.
Alpine kids get quizzed in radio trivia show
The Alpine Quiz Kids have returned this year for more
brain busting fun amongst local students. Alpine’s own radio
station, Alpine Lite, 107.9 FM has hosted the last two, “Alpine
Quiz Kids” at Alpine Elementary School as they are revving up
for this school year.
Alpine resident will serve on citizens oversight committee
The Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD), a public agency
that covers 750 square miles of San Diego’s East County,
including Alpine, has announced that Alpine resident Joseph
Powell, business manager for the Sheet Metal Workers’
International Association, Local 206, has agreed to serve as one
of 11 East County residents on an Independent Citizens’
Oversight Committee (ICOC).
Local dancer will perform in Nutcracker
Local dancer Emma Horner, of Alpine, who turned 12 this
week, will perform again this year in the California Ballet
production of The Nutcracker at the East County Performing Arts
Center this winter.
