APG hears possible problems with two school sites 
Problems with two of the four sites for a new Alpine High School arose at the last Alpine Planning Group meeting held Sept. 28. Public commentary, as well as a yet-to-be planned project, may have taken the wind out of two of the narrowed down site choices.  

7 candidates vying for 3 seats on new Boulevard board  
Residents in the rural back Country town of Boulevard will have a chance to vote for their local community planning group representation in the election coming up Nov. 7. 

Alpine school budget in the black
At the October Alpine Union School District Board meeting, business Manager Rob Turner reported that despite a drop in enrollments this year, the outlook for the school budget requirements remains optimistic.   

Smuggler could get five years for transporting illegal aliens

An illegal alien smuggler guide and a driver that crashed a van in Dulzura, killing two women last March, have pleaded guilty to illegally bringing undocumented people into the U.S., which results in death and for financial gain.

Rain didn’t dampen spirits at HAG fest
The Alpine Artist’s Association’s 2006 HAG Fest, or Healing, Arts, Global Music Festival, was a huge success even though the weather was not as permitting as some would have liked. Nina Gould was pleased with the idea that the rain did not dampen their spirits.  
 
Supervisors approve guidelines to prohibit long-term RV parking
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors approved a set of guidelines for the prohibition of long-term parking for recreational vehicles and other specified vehicles on designated residential county roads.

Supes approve increase in animal services fees
On October 26 animal service fees for services at the County of San Diego’s animal shelter will be increased.

Winners of the second annual Alpine Art Festival announced
The 2006 Alpine Art Festival announced the winners of their Student Art Contest this week.
