Five Potrero
planners recalled by a 2 to 1 margin
Nearly 59 percent of Potrero’s 509 registered
voters cast mail-in ballots in an election, which has resulted
in the recall of all five planning group members who voted for
Blackwater’s controversial project.
Live Oak operator blames wildfires for not fixing system
Nazar Najor,
the operator of a Live Oak Springs water system who pleaded
guilty to giving a false report about his water safety, told a
judge on Friday he hasn't been able to dig a new well as
required because all the qualified workers to help him do that
are busy rebuilding homes lost in the October 2007 wildfires.
LAFCO forwards county fire agency plans to BOS
San Diego County's Local Agency Formation
Commission directed LAFCO's executive officer to transmit the
terms and conditions of the proposed fire department
reorganization to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
Water fluoridation begins for county
The fluoridation of water delivered to San Diego
County has begun. On Dec. 3 the Metropolitan Water District of
Southern California began delivering fluoridated water. The
fluoridation will be at a concentration between 0.8 and 0.9
parts per million.
Appeals court stays sentencing for ex-deputy who shot wife
The sentencing of a former sheriff's deputy who shot his
wife to death a year ago in their Alpine home has been placed on
hold by the 4th District Court of Appeal after his lawyers filed
a writ to find another judge to sentence him. The sentencing of
Lowell "Sam" Bruce, 41, was to have occurred Monday, Dec. 10,
but the appeals court ordered a stay of the proceedings at the
request of Bruce's lawyers.
Neighbors open homes for holiday tours
Christmas in Alpine means a lot to our Alpine
inhabitants, and the proof was in the pudding this last weekend
when five families opened their homes for Christmas viewing
pleasure. This season’s holiday home tour was a beautiful treat
for all who were able to attend. The Woman’s Club and our Alpine
Historical Society were open for tour as well.
