getting connected with new cell sites
The county’s Planning Commission voted 7-0 in December
to approve a Major Use Permit for a wireless facility in the
Cameron Corners area of Campo.
Deputy prelim hearing delayed until April 17
The
attorney for an Alpine sheriff’s deputy who is charged with
killing his wife has won a delay in his preliminary hearing
until April 17, because not all of the law enforcement reports
and medical reports have been received.
Local seniors enjoy homestyle comforts at Alpine Kastle
Kasitz Kastle is one of Alpine’s oldest and grandest
buildings, built in 1894 by Benjamin Arnold who kept it as his
residence for a short time. During its very long existence here
in Alpine, the familiar spacious Victorian home, now painted in
a cheerful yellow with white trim, has belonged to several
families.
Preliminary hearing set for liquor store shooting suspects
A March 6 preliminary hearing was set on Jan. 3 for an
Alpine man and an El Cajon resident who are charged with killing
two people at a liquor store during a robbery.
Alpine Community Center launches 2007 fund raising
campaign
As the New Year rang in, the Alpine Community Center
commenced its “2007 Mortgage Maker” campaign.
Volunteers man Historic Highway 80 Corp. to promote
tourism
That big celebration back in October when Old Highway 80
officially became an historic landmark — was just the beginning
of activity for the committee members who have worked for a year
and a half to make it happen.
Flu season is yet to come as residents suffer with
sickness
Lately, many residents know someone or have themselves
been caught by what people commonly refer to as “stomach-flu,”
but in the medical world, this flu is not Influenza at all. It
is called gastroenteritis. This is actually an inflammation in
the stomach and intestine caused by a virus, which often leads
to vomiting and diarrhea.
Christmas dinner at ACC
Folks started arriving on Christmas Day at the Alpine
Community Center an hour before dinner was served. The smell of
turkey, ham, and sweet potato pie wafting in from the kitchen
greeted the several dozen who gathered for the feast. This
annual dinner is hosted by the ACC and funds for the meal are
provided by the Alpine Ministerial Association (Christian
pastors from the Alpine area).
