Christmas 2006 didn’t promise to be the best one ever
for Fred Loegel, owner of Fred’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers and
Malts. Just four days before the holiday he underwent heart
surgery and on Christmas Eve his restaurant on Alpine Boulevard
was broken into and trashed.
Police chase and murder suspect arraigned from hospital

Bail in the amount
of $1.5 million has been set for a man who is charged with
murdering a woman and driving her car in a police chase that
began in Alpine.
Former fire station’s new tenants will serve Alpine from
head to toe
If you’ve driven down Alpine Boulevard lately you no
doubt have noticed some changes. The old Alpine Fire Protection
District fire station, that was donated to the Alpine Community
Center, has been rented.

Like 2006, the New Year is bound to bring new changes to Alpine
and the Back Country. As always, The Alpine Sun will continue

Alpine youth wins congressional nomination
Montana Sommese is a 17-year-old student with big plans. Raised
in Alpine, Montana attended Boulder Oaks Elementary school, then
Joan Mac Queen Middle School before moving on to high school. He
began his high school years at Grossmont High School before
transferring to Julian Charter High School for his senior year.
