PUC Sunrise
pick threatens Back Country communities
Despite a report from the California Public
Utilities Commission, which states that the
Sunrise Powerlink is, “clearly not needed,” the
PUC has added another possible route for the San
Diego Gas & Electric project. The modified route
D, would plant 125-foot-tall towers along a path
that would skirt Cleveland National Forest; but
travel right through Boulevard, Campo, Potrero,
and then north through Descanso and eastern

County Supervisors adopt consolidated Fire Code
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors adopted
a consolidated Fire Code, which also revised deck
construction requirements. “The consolidated Fire
Code will allow for a more uniform code,” said
Supervisor Dianne Jacob, that will allow for
consistent enforcement as well as expedited plan
checks. “It’s every effort such as this that makes

Trial date set for Alpine deputy who shot his wife
A trial date of Oct. 9 was set May 30 for
sheriff’s deputy Lowell “Sam” Bruce, who is
charged with killing his wife during an argument
