EL CAJON — The Grossmont Union High School District did a “show
and tell” to present a view of their classroom-remodeling
program, which is being paid for by the Prop H bond. The newly
remodeled classroom is at Grossmont High School and is on
display to illustrate what will be eventually done at all of the
districts older schools.
Individual heating and air-conditioning units are being
installed in all of the newly upgraded classrooms, with the
master controls for them being governed from one central
location at each school. New white boards, audio/visual
equipment, secure windows, locking doors, dropped ceilings and
new flooring make these new classrooms bright, airy and secure.
The estimated cost per upgraded room is between $80-
and $100-thousand dollars.
While we were at Grossmont High School covering this
story groups of students stopped by the revamped classroom.
Their comments were unanimously positive and they were looking
forward to completion of the upgrades.
The district plans to continue these class room
remodels on a school by school, as needed basis and hopes to
have this entire portion of the Prop H remodeling done within
the next several years.
