Quiz Kids is back
ALPINE — The Quiz Kids Radio Program returns for another season. Lite 107.9 FM was doing the “Quiz Kids” radio show long before “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? Join us this year and be a part of the fun.
This year the program is expanding the student contestants from the regular 5th, 6th, and 7th grades to include the 8th graders as well. Teams will be made up a school against school, class against class or in some cases two teams competing against each other from both classes. At the end of the series in May, we will select one team that has appeared during this broadcast schedule to compete against their parents.
Please contact Chuck Taylor, who will be hosting this program, at Lite 107.9 FM for more information at teefertaylor@yahoo.com.

Volunteers needed for clearing
ALPINE — Greater Alpine Fire Safe Council has a project planned for this Saturday, Nov. 3. From 8 a.m. until about 4 p.m. volunteers and USFS hand crews are going to work together to create defensible space on a demonstration home that borders the Cleveland National Forest.
The GAFSC original volunteer team has their hands full working on fire recovery projects. Without your help, this project is at risk. GAFSC is looking for 10 to 12 able-bodied folks who would be willing to drag brush in exchange for a delicious barbecued lunch. You don't have to work the entire timeframe, and you needn't come up with the whole gang to be helpful.
If you can provide any assistance, please call Wende Cornelius at 733-5579.
