Children’s choir
     ALPINE — A new children’s choir is forming in Alpine, held every Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 1460 Midway Drive.
     Ages six and older are invited to join the choir with a professional instructor, which will have two recitals per year.
     The cost is $25 per month donation and scholarships are available. For more information one may call Terri at 723-0309, or check online at www.ChristTheKingAlpine.org.

Second annual MECAC Holiday Faire
     PINE VALLEY — The Mountain Empire Creative Arts Council invited all artists to the second annual MECAC Holiday Faire, on Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Pine Valley Club House.
     This is a chance for all artists who are in the MECAC network to sell or show their artwork.
     Maximum of 20 artists, with six spaces reserved for artists who just want to show and not sell. Spaces are 4’ X 4’ for $10. If you need more space please purchase two spaces. Tables are included in the space fee.
     All proceeds from the space fees and drawing go towards supporting MECAC activities including our Summer Youth Art Program. MECAC is a 501 c3, non-profit organization.

Meet the Superintendent
     ALPINE — The Alpine Chamber of Commerce is hosting "Meet Mr. Collins,” the new superintendent of the Grossmont High School District, on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 4 p.m. at the Palo Verde Lake Clubhouse; 3750 Via Cielo Azul, Alpine.

Blood bank donations
     EL CAJON — The San Diego Blood Bank will accept blood donations at an open to the public blood drive hosted by Granite Hills High School, 1719 E Madison Ave., El Cajon, Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The blood drive will be held in the Gym.
     Anyone who is at least 17 years old, in good health and weighs at least 110 pounds may be eligible to give blood.

Toy Land Christmas
     ALPINE — The Alpine Community Center will present a Toy Land Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 1. Santa will be on hand for breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m., and lunch from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the center, 1830 Alpine Blvd.
     Tickets are $12 for children and adults, or a table of ten is $110. Reservations are required and no tickets will be available at the door.

Third annual fall tennis classic
     ALPINE — The Alpine Community Center will host the third annual Fall Tennis Classic. The adult doubles event will be held Nov. 30 through Dec. 2.
     The competition format will be Ladies, and Mixed-doubles. The deadline to register is Nov. 23. The public is invited to watch and support their favorite team free of charge.

Holiday home tour
     ALPINE — The Alpine Woman’s Club will hold its Third Annual Holiday Home Tour on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
     Visitors will have an opportunity to stroll through four stunning country estates, a unique Guest House, plus three historic buildings, including the Alpine Museum buildings and the Town Hall.
     Tickets for the tour are $25 and can be purchased at the Woman’s Club, 2156 Alpine Blvd., on Saturdays, Nov. 24 and Dec.1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Dec. 2 starting at 10 a.m. You can also order tickets by mailing a check to Alpine Woman’s Club P.O. Box 231, Alpine, CA 91903.

Winter wonderland at Viejas
     ALPINE — Viejas Outlet Center officially kicks-off the holiday season Thanksgiving weekend with Midnight Madness shopping, the first-ever public ice skating rink in Alpine, holiday tree lighting, the return of the Ice Princess nightly performance and super holiday savings at all retail stores.
     For the first year ever, Viejas Outlet Center is proud to announce they are bringing the first public ice skating rink to Alpine this holiday season. The ice rink will be open to the public beginning Friday, Nov. 23 through Sunday, Jan. 13. For $10, skaters will enjoy an hour and a half of skating, which includes skate rental. The hours of the rink are Monday to Friday 4 – 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
    For the avid shopper, Viejas Outlet Center stores will again open their doors at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 23 for the Midnight Madness Sale. As an added bonus, those who visit the Outlet Center will be able to ice skate free from midnight to 6 a.m.
     On Saturday, Nov. 24 Viejas Outlet Center presents the biggest and best holiday tree lighting. The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. in the Concerts in the Park area and will feature a live ice show culminating with the lighting of the holiday tree by Fox 6 anchor, and Alpine resident, Marc Bailey and a visit from Santa Claus.

Historic buildings open house
     ALPINE — The Alpine Town Hall will be open to the public on Saturday, Nov. 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. The Alpine Historical Society buildings will be open to the public on Saturday, Nov. 24 and Sunday, Nov. 25 from 2 to 4 p.m.
     This is a great opportunity to go back in time and learn more about Historic Alpine from several knowledgeable docents. The Town Hall is located at 2156 Alpine Blvd.  The two historic buildings are both located at 2116 Tavern Road. Just follow the signs to the Museum.

Parade of Lights
     ALPINE — Santa will be in Alpine on Friday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. riding down Alpine Boulevard for the 12th annual Alpine Village Christmas parade of Lights. Everyone is invited to join Santa in the Parade of Lights.
     Immediately following the Parade Santa and his helpers will light the Alpine Community Christmas Tree and join in a holiday sing-a-long. Then stay for the greatest mountain of snow. Sledding for the young at heart and the runs are free.

Photographers wanted
     ALPINE — The Alpine photographers group invites all enthusiasts or amateurs to attend monthly photography meetings held once a month on Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Alpine Community Center, 1830 Alpine Blvd. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, Dec. 4.

Granny’s Fall Harvest
     DESCANSO — Granville Museum will be hosting “Granny’s Fall Harvest” on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1 and 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 24019 Japatul Valley Rd., Descanso.
     There will be antiques, farm equipment, engines, tractors, a free ice cream social. You are welcome to show your talent and bring your own arts and crafts. See the past come alive while you enjoy touring a Mountain Man cabin.

Firestorm 2007 benefit concert
     ALPINE — Canyonfolk House Concerts will host a concert on Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Alpine Community Center Park to raise money for the fire victims. The Canyonfolk hosts lost their home in the 2003 Cedar Fire and know what many of the people from the current fires will be facing for the next several years.
     Several performers have already been booked for the show. Tickets for the show will be $25, and all funds will go to the Harbison Canyon chapter of Lions International to be used for local fire victims.
