The county's
Planning Commission approved a determination of public necessity
or convenience, which will increase the chances of the future
Longs Drugs Store in Alpine obtaining a liquor license.
Campo equestrian center study approved by BOS
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0
Sept. 25 to authorize a feasibility study for an equestrian
facility in Campo.
Princesses and politicians march in annual parade
The Alpine/Viejas Days Parade marched down Alpine
Boulevard with resounding cheer and pride as much of Alpine
watched floats, representatives, princesses and high school
bands strut their stuff.
Rookie Border Patrol agents arrest suspected murderer in
Potrero
On Tuesday, Oct. 2, CBP Border Patrol agents on a Field
Training Unit supervised by a veteran agent, arrested a man with
a $2 million homicide warrant out of Los Angeles. The suspected
murderer had entered the United States illegally under the cover
of darkness with a group of 12 other illegal aliens.
Alpine Fire Protection District to hold its 14th annual
open house
The Alpine Fire Protection District will hold an Open
House on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire
station located at 1364 Tavern Rd.
Dealing with the crime triangle
As with any fire, the Crime Triangle too has three
elements that must be present in order for it to be complete.
The Suspect (person committing the crime), Victim (person crime
occurred against) and Location (example: A business).
Free community chipping in Alpine
“You bring it, we’ll chip it!” The Fire Safe Council of
San Diego County (FSCSDC) will be hosting a community chipping
day for residents of Alpine on Saturday, Oct. 13.
Going native in your own backyard
The Back Country Land Trust’s annual native plant sale
is quickly approaching. This year the sale will take place on
Oct. 27, featuring plants like Cleveland Sage, California
Fuchsia, Manzanita, Wild Lilac, Royal Penstemon, and Coast Live
Oak. These plants, because they are native, thrive in our
climate.
