Steele Canyon open house
SPRING VALLEY — Steele Canyon High School will be
hosting two open houses at the school on Thursday, Feb. 21
from 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to
noon.
Incoming 9th grade and upper grade students who are
interested in attending Steele Canyon High School next year
are invited to learn more about our Charter School, program
goals, and educational philosophy at these open houses.

Shadow Hills casino night
ALPINE — Shadow Hills Elementary School will be hosting
a fund raising Casino Night on Friday, Feb. 22, from 5-8
p.m., at the Viejas Casino, Dream Catcher Lounge.
A live band will follow at 9 p.m. This is a very
important fund raiser to earn money to purchase a playground
structure for students.
Check-in is at 5 p.m. and gaming tables open at 5:30
p.m. Tickets are $25 per person, which includes hors
d’oeuvres and $200 in funny money to play.

Easter Egg hunt and bicycle
rodeo
CAMPO — It is time for the Campo VFW Post 2080 to host
the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Bicycle Rodeo. “Easter” will
come early for this event on Saturday, March 1.
The whole community is invited for this fun event with
the Easter Egg Hunt beginning at noon and the Bicycle Rodeo
starting at 1 p.m. Prizes for all, and maybe even a new
bicycle for the Grand Winners.
The VFW is located behind the Border Patrol Station off

Bloodmobile visit
The San Diego Blood Bank bloodmobile will accept blood
donations at an open to the public blood drive at the Alpine
Community Center, 1850 Alpine Blvd., Alpine, Saturday, March
15, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The bloodmobile will be in the
parking lot.
Anyone who is at least 17 years old, in good health and
weighs at least 110 pounds may be eligible to give blood.

JMMS bunco night
ALPINE — Joan Mac Queen Middle School will host its
annual Bunko Night on Thursday, March 13 at Viejas
Dreamcatcher Lounge.
Check-in is at 5 p.m. and the game begins at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15, which includes food, soft drinks and a game
of Bunco.

Alpine Woman’s Club Victorian Tea
ALPINE — The 15th Annual Victorian Tea will be held at
the Alpine Woman’s Club on Saturday, Feb 23. The club is
located at 2156 Alpine Blvd. in the historic Town Hall.
This event is open to the public and Victorian dress is
optional. Cost is $25 per person and proceeds will go
towards their scholarship fund. Space is limited so please

Albertsons community fair
ALPINE — Alpine residents are invited to the Albertsons
First Community Event in Alpine. In honor of the grand
opening in Alpine, Albertsons is hosting its first community
fair. Fellow Community Groups, Leaders, and Business Owners
are all encouraged to participate in this exciting Saturday
of fun.
The event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, in the
Albertsons parking lot, at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., set-up will be
at 10 a.m. Groups will be provided with a 6’-foot table and
two chairs.

Sunrise Powerlink EIR hearings
MTN. EMPIRE — Several hearings will be coming up in the
near future to allow residents to get more information and
ask questions of specialists for the SDG&E Sunrise Powerlink
project, after the release of the Draft Environmental Impact
Report on Jan. 3.
An Administrative Law Judge Public Participation
Hearing will be held at MEHS on Monday, Feb. 25, at 6:30
p.m. This will be an opportunity for residents to go on
legal record with their comments.

Spring Tennis camp
ALPINE — The Alpine Community Center will offer a
“Spring into Action” tennis camp March 17 through 21. The
five-day camp will consist of tennis instruction for
youngsters offered by teaching pro, Rene Toscano, and
experienced teaching assistants.
Regular spring season tennis classes start the first
week of March and end May 31. Classes are offered for all
age groups, and ability levels.
