Easter Egg hunt and bicycle rodeo
CAMPO — It is time for the Campo VFW Post 2080 to host the
annual Easter Egg Hunt and Bicycle Rodeo. “Easter” will come
early for this event on Saturday, March 1
The whole community is invited for this fun event with the
Easter Egg Hunt beginning at noon and the Bicycle Rodeo
starting at 1 p.m. Prizes for all, and maybe even a new
bicycle for the Grand Winners. Refreshments such as hot
dogs, hamburgers and soda will be available, Raffles, and a
Bake sale, too.
The VFW is located behind the Border Patrol Station off

community parking lot sale on Saturday, March 1 from 8 a.m.
to 2 p.m.

Rural initiative funding
ALPINE — The public is invited to discuss the rural needs
for Mental Health Services on March 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This forum will discuss a Rural Initiative Funding is that
available.
The three target regions are North Inland, Mountain (Julian)
and Rural East (Mountain Empire). There will be only be one
region or program that will be funded for Mental Health
Prevention Services. In order for the funding to come to the
Rural East County, the area needs to demonstrate and let the
county know about the needs of the Mtn. Empire Communities
in a very strong voice.
Campo Administrative office (31115 Hwy. 94) and Alpine
Administrative Office (1620 Alpine Blvd., Suite 119) will be
the videoconferencing sites so that no one will have to
drive to Escondido for the meeting.

Bloodmobile visit
The San Diego Blood Bank bloodmobile will accept blood
donations at an open to the public blood drive will take
place at the Alpine Woman's Club, Alpine, Saturday, March
15, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The bloodmobile will be
parked in the parking lot.
Another drive will be hosted by Viejas Casino, 5000 Willows
Road, Alpine, Tuesday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The bloodmobile will be parked in the parking lot of
DreamCatcher at Viejas.
Anyone who is at least 17 years old, in good health and
weighs at least 110 pounds may be eligible to give blood. A
good meal is recommended prior to donation. For donor

New school fee
MTN. EMPIRE — Notice is hereby given that the Board of
Trustees of the Mountain Empire Unified School District at
its Regular Meeting to be held on March 5, will consider
adopting a Resolution of the Board of the District to
Increase Statutory School Facility Fees Imposed on New
Residential and Commercial/Industrial Construction.
The studies justifying such increases, which are
incorporated herein by this reference, are on file at the
District’s Offices located at 3291 Buckman Springs Road,
Pine Valley, and are available for public review from Feb.
22, through March 5, 2008.
The Public Hearing of the District, to be held March 5 will
begin at 6 p.m., at Jacumba Elementary School, 44343 Old
Highway 80, Jacumba. These matters will be considered at
such time as this agenda item is considered by the Board of

ALPINE — Alpine Country Gifts and Crafts will be presenting
its 14th Annual Springtime Home and Garden Show at the
Historic Alpine’s Women’s Club at 2156 Alpine Blvd. on
Thursday, March 6, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Show will be open on March 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
and March 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Homecrafted items will be
stocked daily from 30 crafters.
Hoofin’ fund raiser
ALPINE — The Vine Wine Bar and Bistro is hosting the
kick-off fund raising event for “Hoofin’ for Hooters,” a
local team of women who will be participating in this year’s
3-Day Breast Cancer Walk benefiting the Susan G Komen for
the Cure. The team’s goal is to raise a cumulative $9,000
this year.
The Tasting is scheduled for Sunday, March 9 from 2-5 p.m.
and is open to the public, but tickets must be purchased in
advance. Prices are $30 per person and include wine tasting
ranging from Shiraz to Champagne, and appetizers from The
Vine’s fabulous menu, as well as Cookie Lee Jewelry
available for purchase.

Viejas Easter Egg Hunt
ALPINE — Come welcome the Easter Bunny and join in the
frenzied fun of an old-fashioned Easter Egg Hunt and Fun
Festival at the Viejas Outlet Center Park, Saturday, March
15 from noon to 4 p.m.
There will be fun and games in the park all afternoon,
including the Duckling Dash where you could win a $500
Viejas Gift Card. To register for the Dash, simply show a
$25 receipt from that day, or you can bring a canned food
item or an unwrapped toy for the East County Food and Toy
Drive and you’re eligible to participate.
Egg Hunts are broken up in to different age groups.

ALPINE — Joan Mac Queen Middle School will host its annual
Bunko Night on Thursday, March 13 at Viejas Dreamcatcher
Lounge.
Check-in is at 5 p.m. and the game begins at 5:30 p.m.

Career Day
ALPINE — Joan Mac Queen Middle School will host its second
annual Career Day for all seventh graders on Friday, March

Spring Tennis camp
ALPINE — The Alpine Community Center will offer a “Spring
into Action” tennis camp March 17 through 21. The five-day
camp will consist of tennis instruction for youngsters
offered by teaching pro, Rene Toscano, and experienced
teaching assistants.
Also, regular spring season tennis classes start the first
week of March and end May 31. Classes are offered for all
age groups, and player ability levels.
