Covert Canyon project fails to get needed number of APG votes
     A packed audience filled the Alpine Community Center on Thursday, Jan. 24 for the first Alpine Planning Group meeting of the year, as board members and citizens were presented with project plans for the Covert Canyon Training Center (CCTC).  

Task force recommends $248,500 for Rural FPD
     The San Diego Rural Fire Protection District will receive a majority of the recommended trust fund and Community Development Block Grant money earmarked for the fire service. San Diego Rural Fire Protection District is slated to receive $248,500 of that.
 

Local baseball player to represent San Diego in Cooperstown
     Congratulations to Alpine’s Andrew Brown who has been selected to represent San Diego, in this year’s 10-Under National Tournament in Cooperstown, New York.   

Border Patrol agents fire on pickup
Three Border Patrol agents fired shots at a pickup truck containing several suspected illegal immigrants on Friday, Feb. 1, when the vehicle sped toward some agents, authorities said. Two people in the truck were injured.  

SHES playground fund raiser
Shadow Hills Elementary School PTA is sponsoring a Casino Night on Feb. 22. The Casino Night is a fun event for the families and entire community of Alpine. The funds we raise during this event will go directly towards the purchase of a new Playground Structure for the students. 
 
New services at Mountain Health  
Alpine Family Medicine is pleased to announce that it is now open to serve the communities of East County on Saturdays. Christl Bonaparte, P.A. is able to assist you with your family’s health care needs. The hours will be Monday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
