Local and countywide controversies continue in 2008  
Many local and countywide controversies will continue into the New Year, some of which have direct local influences on Alpine as well as Back Country areas.  

New AFPD fire codes will affect local builders     
     The Alpine Fire Protection District will be adopting new fire codes this month that will affect local buildings. AFPD will be conforming with the 2007 California Fire Code, along with a few changes that are specific to the Alpine area. At the Jan. 15 AFPD board of directors meeting, the group will be reviewing the proposed code changes and amendments. 

Local performer honors American soldiers with holiday concert
The Bert Fuller Alpine VFW Post 9578 hosted a concert featuring local artist Rod Galloway Jr. on Saturday, Dec. 29. The concert, “War & The American Soldier,” was a compilation of 13 songs, interspersed with a supporting sound track that gave the songs even greater impact.   

A new face for healthcare in Alpine
San Diego chiropractor, Ryan McClinton, D.C. has landed in Alpine after eight years of practice in San Diego county. After transplanting to California from Hawaii, Dr. Ryan worked on his undergraduate studies at San Diego State College before moving to the bay area, where he began schooling at Palmer Chiropractic College. Four years later he was back to serve the people of San Diego with great chiropractic care.
