Hundreds sit in to hear Prop U pitch  
     More than 250 Alpine community members filled the seats to see the Grossmont Union High School District Superintendent, Robert Collins who was present at a town hall meeting, to speak about the upcoming Proposition U bond issue.  

SDG&E could shut down power lines in the Back Country     
     Fire Season is upon us with a Red Flag Warning declared by the National Weather Service. San Diego Gas & Electric is taking drastic steps to ensure that their electrical equipment is fire safe. In a recent e-mail, residents in the Back Country were notified that during certain extreme weather conditions, SDG&E will be shutting down power-lines
 

First phase of fire reorganization plan approved  
     San Diego County’s Local Agency Formation Commission approved the reorganization of territory not served by a public fire department into the San Diego County Regional Fire Authority. A unanimous LAFCO board vote Oct. 6 approved the initial reorganization of approximately 942,000 acres into the regional fire department.   

Jeremy Lutz gets 85 years
Jeremy John Lutz was sentenced Oct. 7 to 85-years-to-life in state prison for murdering a homeless man and raping his ex-girlfriend who lived in Pine Valley at the time.
