AUSD employees
‘share the pain’ with 2 percent cut
In an unprecedented wave of support the Alpine
Union School District teachers and classified employees, via
their unions, stepped up to the plate to offer real solutions to
deal with the current economic dilemmas.
County budget call for cutbacks to local programs and
services
Due to the
county’s fiscal crisis, county staff provided a preliminary
outlook of the Fiscal Year 2009-10 budget and indicated where
proposed cuts might be made.The actual proposed operational plan
will be submitted to the supervisors May 12 while budget
hearings and deliberations will take place in June.
Planning Commission to discuss secondary fire access
The county’s Planning Commission will hold an
April 24 workshop to address the issue of alternatives to
secondary access fire safety requirements.
Earth Day fun, activities bloom
Recycle, save trees and have a wonderful time going
green at this year’s big annual Earth Day celebration in
picturesque Alpine.
Tribal member receives Health Hero Award
Charlie Brown, a Viejas Tribal Member and Director of
Viejas Community Relations, was awarded the Health Hero Award by
the Combined Health Agencies for his contributions to the local
health industry and community activism.
Combined choirs sing Requiem on Good Friday
Good Friday falls on April 10, and at Christ the King
Episcopal Church, an inspirational musical performance is
planned for the 7 p.m. service.
Geocaching Hunt offers a teamwork challenge in the great
outdoors
“These guys love Easter egg hunts, but they’re getting a
little too old for just running around and picking up eggs out
of the grass — we needed more of a challenge,” says Mary Gilbert
of Imperial, Calif.

The Alpine Eagles have
landed for the 2009 season
The Eagles have landed
for the 2009 Spring Lacrosse Season. Alpine Eagles Lacrosse Team
is 27 strong players ages 11 to 14. Alpine Lacrosse has begun
it’s second season in Alpine with 26 boys and one girl from many
local Elementary and Middle Schools.
