Holiday trail ride
PINE VALLEY — Horse of the Sun will host a Holiday Trail Ride to benefit rescue horses on Dec. 5 at 9 a.m. at 28271 Old Hwy. 80, Pine Valley.
The cost is $30 and will include trail ride and brunch served after the ride, $15 for brunch only. Raffle tickets will be sold for great prizes, and there will be a silent auction full of wonderful items such as joint supplements, equine artwork, restaurant gift certificates, wine, home decor, tack, grooming products and so much more.

ALPINE — Alpine Girls recreational softball is having registration sign-up on Dec. 5 and 6, at Boulder Oaks Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 6 years and under are only $20, 8U through 14U are $105 ($125 after Dec. 6).

Breakfast with Santa
ALPINE — On Saturday, Dec. 5, from 8 – 11 a.m., breakfast with Santa will be served at the Alpine Community Center.
There will be breakfast, photos with Santa, door prizes, goodie bags and auction items. Children participate in a craft project and decorate their own cookie.

Holiday home tour
ALPINE — The Alpine Woman’s Club will hold its Fifth Annual “Christmas in Alpine” on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visitors will have an opportunity to stroll through five stunning country estates, plus three historic buildings, including the Alpine Museum buildings and the Town Hall. There will be a $500 opportunity drawing and other raffle items.
Tickets for the tour are $25 per ticket. To order please mail a check to the Alpine Woman’s Club P.O. Box 231, Alpine, CA 91903. Tickets can also be purchased the day of the event at the Woman’s Club 2156 Alpine Blvd. Proceeds benefit the preservation of the historic Town Hall.

Assemblyman open house
EL CAJON — Assemblyman Joel Anderson will host a holiday open house at his district office in El Cajon on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m.
The event will be an opportunity for constituents of the 77th Assembly district to meet their elected official who represents them in Sacramento and to join him in celebration of the holiday season.
In addition to hors’ doeurves and refreshments which the Assemblyman’s family will personally provide, attendees will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Assemblyman, as well as meet other local elected officials in attendance.

LTB holiday party
ALPINE — On Saturday, Dec. 5, from 1-5 p.m., LTB's annual Holiday Shopping Extravaganza will showcase arts, crafts, jewelry, clothing, kitchenware, wine tastings and food offerings from San Diego merchants and home-crafters.
In addition, LTB is sponsoring a food drive to support the San Diego Food Bank's Holiday Food Drive and will be collecting non-perishable and non-glass goods. Everyone who brings a contribution will receive one free opportunity drawing ticket to win a "Wild Nights" Camp-Over at LTB for two people, a value of $400.
Lions Tigers & Bears is open to all its members and their guests. Entry to the fair is $25 for adults and $15 for children under 12, and for the first time ever, guests will receive an annual membership with paid admission.

Christmas potluck
DESCANSO — Descanso Town Hall Association’s is hosting its Annual Christmas potluck on Saturday, Dec. 5.
This opportunity to have dinner with your town begins with a social hour at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Alan Sawyer will deliver the blessing. The inimitable Peter Bradley will give his rendition of “The Night Before Christmas,” followed by a specially booked appearance of Santa himself.
Please bring your own dinner service and a dish to pass. BYOB. The Christmas potluck is Descanso’s time of togetherness as we welcome a Joyous Holiday Season.

Christmas Party
ALPINE — The Harbison Canyon Lions are hosting a free Christmas Party on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 2-5 p.m. at Old Ironside Park, 326 Harbison Canyon Rd.
Santa will have gifts and pictures. Come enjoy Victorian Musical Entertainment, Pot Luck desserts and beverages.

Alpine Christmas
ALPINE — The 14th Annual Alpine Village Christmas Parade of Lights & Snow Festival will take place Friday, Dec. 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Santa will be riding down Alpine Boulevard for the 14th annual Alpine Village Christmas Parade of Lights. Everyone is invited to join Santa in the Parade of Lights. The only requirement is your entry be decorated with lights.
Immediately following the parade, Santa and his helpers will light the Alpine Community Christmas Tree and join in a holiday sing-a-long. Free playing on snow for the young at heart!
