Community Council takes on Alpine SPL   
     San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) project managers gave a run-down of the status and benefits of the proposed Sunrise Powerlink project and the occurrences leading up to its construction, to a group of invited local businesspeople, representatives and residents at a meeting held last Tuesday, Nov. 10.  

County supervisors amend vector abatement and control ordinance
    
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors have approved several changes to the county’s vector abatement and control ordinance. The changes, which will take effect Nov. 20, streamline enforcement procedures, give authorities the right to inspect a property and to abate a public nuisance, and allow the county to collect costs for non-compliance. 

Academy hit again with loss of administrator  
     On Tuesday, Nov. 10, Julian Charter School called a special meeting to address the parents of Alpine Academy. In the past month, the school has completely changed administration, and the parents are all questioning the decisions that were seemingly made so quickly.   

California Assembly honors local hero with memorial resolution
The California Assembly approved a resolution offered by 77th District Assemblyman Joel Anderson, honoring Army Sgt. Joseph W. Perry of Alpine.  

Susan Lancaster bids for Honorary Mayor
With a long-time background at local schools, Susan Lancaster is one of four people vying for the volunteer office of Honorary Mayor of Alpine. 
 
Alpine Lions Club celebrates community  
The Alpine Stagecoach Lions Club held its annual volunteer awards dinner under the stars this year in the courtyard at Christ the King Episcopal Church on Thursday, Oct. 22. The event was catered by the Santee Lions who originally sponsored the development of the Alpine chapter in 1992.
