MUP approved for Victoria Drive wireless facility
SAN DIEGO — The county’s Planning
Commission voted to grant a Major Use Permit for a wireless
communications facility in the 3500 block of East Victoria
Drive.
The Planning Commission’s 6-0 vote November 13, with
Commissioner Adam Day absent, allows Cricket Communications to
construct a 35-foot-tall false broadleaf tree to which three
panel antennas will be mounted. The facility will also include
an equipment cabinet, which will be enclosed by a concrete
masonry unit wall eight feet high, and an underground utility
trench will be located on the project site.
The 5.2-acre parcel has A70 agricultural zoning.
Preferred zones include parcels with commercial and industrial
zoning and some special purpose zoning, so the Major Use Permit
was required. The site was approved because no other preferred
zones in the service area exist which meet the coverage
objective.
The wireless facility will occupy approximately 93
square feet of that parcel, which includes a single-family
residence, a second dwelling unit, a tennis court, a detached
garage, and two existing wireless communication facilities. The
Cricket facility will be above the tennis court adjacent to an
existing gazebo, and an existing driveway off of Victoria Drive
will be used to access the site.
On May 7 the Alpine Planning Group voted to recommend
approval of the permit.
