Alpine residents can go organic at new Ranch Farmer’s Market  
As of the first of next month Alpine community members will be able to shop for organic and healthy food and snacks at the opening of the brand new and improved Ranch Farmer’s Market, replacing Alpine’s longtime Ranch Market at 2754 Alpine Blvd.
 

APG votes to send letter opposing proposed Sunrise Powerlink  
     A handful of local and Back Country representatives and business people made their voices heard on Thursday, Sept. 24 at the Alpine Planning Group meeting, protesting the construction of the heavily debated Sunrise Powerlink

Grossmont district moves ahead with proposition plans  
     Grossmont Union High School District is marching on with its to-do list on Proposition H, and Proposition U. Despite budget troubles, the proposition plans are on track, and the district is making great progress. The new Alpine High School is still on track to open in August of 2013.  

Last Alpine developer to be sentenced, shows $100,000 check
The last of three Alpine developers who pleaded guilty to grand theft showed up at his sentencing Sept. 24 with a $100,000 check in restitution and was placed on five years probation. 
 
Board of Supervisors approves Zoning Ordinance amendments  
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors approved various Zoning Ordinance amendments Sept. 16 on a 5-0 vote.

Local students receive free books
Students at local Alpine schools were the recipients of many new books in recent weeks, thanks to an Alpine Chamber of Commerce Foundation program, entitled Literacy for a Lifetime.

Alpine’s ‘jewels’ glitter at 15th annual ALPS awards  
     Community volunteers, businesses and organizations sparkled Sept. 23 at the 15th Annual Alpine Leadership and Public Service Awards. An evening of laughter, standing ovations and funny or sentimental highlights honored the “Jewels of Our Community” at the Viejas DreamCatcher Lounge.

Local residents compete to be the biggest loser
Everyone has probably heard of the show “Biggest Loser”. This game show is all about reaching goals in weight loss as well as in self-esteem. What a great concept!
