Shadow Hills Fall Festival
ALPINE — Shadow Hills Elementary School will host its annual Fall Festival on Friday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Local troops, clubs, and youth groups are invited to participate and fundraise for their groups. The Shadow Hills PTA Fall Festival is open to the public, we have multiple game booths, food booths, silent auction items, music by DJ Dave, Cake Walk, photos and Haunted Trail.
The PTA is in need of baked goods for the cake walk (cakes, brownies, cookies, etc.) All auction items are donated by San Diego and local businesses. We are still seeking sponsors to help fund lighting, music, trash pick up, and all expenses associated with this program. All proceeds go back to the SHES classrooms, club or youth groups participating.

Halloween carnival
ALPINE — Alpine Elementary School’s PTA Halloween Carnival will be held Friday, Oct. 30 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.
Alpine residents are invited to join us for a night of family fun in a safe and festive environment. There will be games, prizes, food and fun.

Family fun night
CAMPO — The next Mtn. Empire Family Fun Night is this Friday, Oct. 30 at the Mountain Empire Community Center in Campo.
Debbie Comstock is going to do the presentation on healthy relationships and family violence. The children will be doing Halloween oriented activities.

Bingo and spaghetti
ALPINE — The Alpine Community Center presents a special Bingo and Spaghetti fundraiser on Wednesday, Nov. 4, with all proceeds donated to senior programs. The event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. with dinner being served at 5 p.m.
Reservations are required. Cost is $10 per person, $7 for ACC members and includes two free bingo cards. Extra cards are $1 each.

Thanksgiving concert
ALPINE — Alpine Church of Spiritual Living will host a Thanksgiving event on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
There will be good music, food, and a silent auction at the church, 2400 Alpine Blvd.

Costume contest
ALPINE — Viejas Outlet Center will host a kids and pets Halloween costume contest on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 5005 Willows Road, Alpine.
Entry is free and its fun for the whole family. Event and registration begin at noon, winner will be announced at 3:35 p.m.

Harvest in the park
ALPINE — The East Valley Christian Fellowship will host a Harvest in the Park on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5-8 p.m. at the Alpine Community Center Park.
The event will include games, food, candy, hay rides and more. This is a totally free event. For more information call 390-2794 or visit www.evcf.com.

Halloween gymkhana
CAMPO — The Mountain Empire/Campo Kiwanis Club will host a Gymkhana on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Eagles Wings Ranch located at 1850 Lake Morena Dr. in Campo.
Children compete for free and adult entrants are just $5. There will be a costume parade on horseback for the kids. Prizes will be awarded. In addition there will be a raffle with about 20 prizes being given, thanks many donations from local citizens and business.
This event is to enable the children of our community to have fun with their horses and family at little cost. All proceeds are rolled back into future events for the purchase of ribbons, food, etc.

Tree Town meeting
ALPINE — Alpine Tree Town will be having its next meeting on Nov. 4, at the Chamber conference room. The group will meet at 5:30 p.m. and all who are interested in the continued greening of Alpine are welcome to attend.
Alpine Tree Town is attempting to start a tree program in the schools and if anyone is interested in getting involved in that please contact Carlette Anderson at carletteanderson@aol.com. The aim of the program is to help children learn how to plant and care for trees and also to appreciated them and the role trees play in our lives and the life of the planet.

Thanksgiving in Song
ALPINE — A free community concert will be given on Sunday evening, Nov. 15, by Alpine musicians. Adult and children’s choirs, soloists and instrumentalists will take part.
The concert will be held at the Alpine Community Church, 2225 W. Victoria Drive, starting at 7 p.m. with a reception to follow. This is the second year for this popular event.

Marching band
extravaganza
SPRING VALLEY — The Grossmont Union High School District Marching Band and Color Guard Field Show Extravaganza will take place Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at Monte Vista High School Stadium, 3230 Sweetwater Springs Blvd., Spring Valley.
The event will feature performances by all GUHSD highschools and will star the SDSU Marching Aztec Band.
Admission: $8 at the gate. Children up through fifth grade free. Middle school students 6, 7, 8 grades free with school ID or letter from band director. Parents expected to accompany children.
