New World Record set by Alpine Girls Softball Association

The Alpine Sun

On Sunday, April 25th, 2010 at 9:05 AM, players from the Alpine Girls Softball Association (AGSA) completed 39-hours of continuous softball play to set the New World Record for the Longest Youth Marathon Softball Game.
The game was played at Otto Field in Alpine, CA, the world record game included 142 players, ages 5 through 16. The first pitch was thrown out at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 23. After approximately 190 innings (and two sleepless nights) the final score was 291 to 272.
Presented by Viejas, this event was a fundraiser for Rady Children’s Hospital and the Alpine Girls Softball Field Fund. Rady Children’s Hospital is a nonprofit hospital that treats over 130,000 children with serious medical challenges.
The AGSA has supported limited use of the local community center and is in desperate need of softball field improvements. The AGSA is a 501C3 non-profit organization.
