Alpine residents pack powerlink community council meeting  
     It was a standing-room-only crowd at the Woman’s Club on Monday, Feb. 15, where San Diego Gas & Electric officials addressed local residents who are demanding more answers on the proposed Sunrise Powerlink (SRPL) undergrounding along Alpine Boulevard. The project, which is expected to take approximately 2 years to complete, has been met with strong opposition from the community.  

Supervisors approve Zoning Ordinance changes     
     The latest round of amendments to the county's Zoning Ordinance was approved during the Jan. 27 meeting of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
 

Tireless Alpine child advocate passes away  
      Margaret Graham, 77, passed away this past week while in the hospital. Many Alpine residents and school board members will affectionately remember Mrs. Graham as “Grandma” as she rarely missed a school board meeting to talk about ways to improve students experiences and make all of our schools better and safer.   

Day-McKellar Prep students send love, and jeans, to Haiti
After the devastating earthquake in Haiti, students and staff at Day-McKellar Preparatory School were searching for a way to help the children of the island nation who have suffered and lost so much.  

Flinn Springs woman ordered to trial for murder of boyfriend
A Flinn Springs woman was ordered Feb. 18 to stand trial for murder in the shooting death of her boyfriend that happened after both of them had been drinking. The woman told deputies her elbow accidently touched the gun and it somehow "went off" in their mobile home.

Alpine High School with no sports
Currently there are no plans to build any sports fields for the new Alpine area high school. Not intramural sports, no facilities for youth sports, nothing.

Big Chamber check helps Alpine students pay for classroom needs
A $6,000 check from the Alpine Mountain Empire Chamber of Commerce will pay for a variety of classroom needs at Alpine public schools.
