SRPL construction
realities could pose bigger problems for Alpine
If a recent town hall meeting at the Alpine
Community Center was any indication, the majority of Alpine
residents are against the proposed Sunrise Powerlink (SRPL)
project along Alpine Boulevard, most citing a great disruption
to the daily activities to residents and business, while others
raised health concerns.

tighter as the squeeze of the economy is forcing some very tough
decisions. Proactive procedures on the part of the
Superintendent and the board of trustees, is seeing the district

Supervisors approve policy on mitigation of county-owned
lands
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted
5-0 Jan. 13 to create a new Board of Supervisors policy
regarding mitigation of county-owned land managed by the
county’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
Ailing Alpine woman needs help
An Alpine woman who has often helped others could use
some assistance right now to pay for very expensive medical
treatment.
Kiwanis celebrates members
There
was a lot to celebrate at a recent Alpine Kiwanis meeting.

Civic Report: Highway 94 Club and REAL team up to promote
historic roadway
The Highway 94 Club, San Diego East Visitor’s Bureau and
Rural Economic Action League have teamed up to petition the
state for historic designation of Highway 94. The Highway 94
Club, on Dec.1, appointed REAL Chairman Larry Johnson to chair a
subcommittee to lead the charge and the visitor’s bureau is
providing support and guidance, using its experience in getting
this designation for Old Highway 80.

Alpine Artistic Florist, Jamie Lewis presents a smiling
welcome, flanked with beautiful floral designs as you walk into
her shop. Lewis sells flowers and arrangements of many kinds,

60 individuals, family groups and organizations were awarded the
President’s Volunteer Service Award with 20 representatives from
Alpine alone.
