Education Foundation will offer four $1,000 scholarships to
deserving high school seniors who reside in Alpine.

Installation of new officers at the Alpine Woman’s Club
The Alpine Woman’s Club will be celebrating the Installation
of new Officers at this month’s meeting on Tuesday, May
18th. We are honored to have George Miladin, the Piano
Playing Pastor, perform for us at May’s meeting.
If you haven’t heard Pastor George play before, you’re in
for a wonderful treat! Please join us for lunch at 12:00 at
the Alpine Woman’s Club in the center of town and stay for
the entertainment. Meetings are Sept. through June on the
3rd Tuesday of each month.

Viejas Concerts
ALPINE—The DreamCatcher at Viejas Casino, SoCal's premier
intimate music venue, has announced an exciting concert
lineup featuring an eclectic line up, from Country to Jazz
and Rock to R&B.
The DreamCatcher at Viejas Casino seats approximately 700
people and provides southern Californian's a unique
opportunity to catch well-established music superstars, as
well as rising stars, in an up-close and personal setting.
Once again this year, $1 from every ticket sold will go to
the Alpine School District's music and math programs.

Depression Screening Event
ALPINE—In an effort to promote Mental Health Month, Health &
Human Services East Region will be hosting a series of free
depression screening events throughout the month of May.
Trained mental health volunteers will host display booths
and administer depression screening tools to adults 18 years
and older at 4 sites around East Region. In Alpine, our
event will be held:

4th Annual Ultimate Music Challenge
VIEJAS—It’s southern California’s biggest cover band
smack-down, as Viejas Casino hosts the 4th annual Ultimate
Music Challenge.
Thirty-nine of the area’s best cover bands will compete at
Viejas Casino’s DreamCatcher Lounge every Sunday night
through June 20th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The winning cover band takes home $25,000, second place
earns $10,000 and 3rd place pays $5,000. A panel of
distinguished judges will score each band’s performance in
the categories of Showmanship, Musical Ability and Audience
Response.

The Descanso Garden Club’s annual plant sale
DESCANSO—The Descanso Garden Club’s annual plant sale will
take place at the Descanso Town Hall on Saturday, May 15th
from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Offered for sale will be plants
– both usual and unusual -- that thrive in Descanso and in
nearby communities. In addition to plants, there will be
garden art and garden related items for sale. Additional
information about the sale can be obtained from the Descanso

In addition to plants grown in Descanso and donated by club
members, there will be plants and garden products offered
for sale by commercial vendors and plant nurseries.
The Descanso Garden Club’s Project Daffodil booth will have

Mountain Empire Men’s Club (MEMC) News
PINE VALLEY—Pine Valley has plenty of horses, but May 22th
Old Highway 80 will be lined with chrome horses. The MEMC is
teaming up again this year with the Monday Night Car Club
and their friends for a day of custom cars, street rods,
classics and more at the Run to the Hills Car Show 8. If you
would like to show your car, sponsor a trophy or be a

from the Monday Nite Car Club or any MEMC member. Proceeds
from this event will benefit youth programs including the
Mountain Empire Men’s Club Scholarship Fund and the Monday

4-H Amigos looking for members
ALPINE — The Alpine Amigos 4H Club is looking for new
members from the ages of 5-19.
4H is a kid's club that provides learning opportunities such
as horses, dogs, community service, archery, and judging.
4-H is looking for members and adult leaders that would be
interested in Small animals, Biking, Leather Making, Lego,
Computer, Garden, Arts and Crafts or any other fun projects
you would like to add.

STEEL CANYON GRADUATION
CEREMONY
Commuters can expect heavy traffic on June 3rd, at Campo
Road/Highway 94 starting around 4:30 PM and again following
the ceremony at approximately 7:30 PM. Stadium gates will
open about 4:30 PM. Arrive early, parking at SCHS is
limited.
Free shuttle bus service to and from the event is available
and located at Skyline Church, 11330 Campo Road, La Mesa
(please do not contact the church regarding the graduation
event).
