October 21, 2013 – (Alpine, California) Each month millions of low-income Americans – more than half of them are children – get help through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) known in California as WIC, CAL FRESH or FRESH FUND. America’s health depends on good nutrition.  However, many low income households need help to have a healthy diet. That is where the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture comes into play. FNS licenses qualified retailers like ALPINE FARMERS MARKET to accept the benefits through the EBT program.
In the past, access to fresh local produce, meats, fish, poultry, breads, cereals, and dairy products were limited for those on the assistance programs. With the recent approval of Alpine Farmers Market as an EBT Retailer — that has changed, and now those in the East County have access to the same beautiful and healthy food options as everyone else.
ALPINE FARMERS MARKET is taking the program one step further, and are currently running a Double-Up Days Promotion.  A shopper can use their EBT/SNAP/CAL FRESH card at ALPINE FARMERS MARKET and double their dollars in Fresh Bucks.  When shoppers use their EBT card for $10, they will receive an additional $10 in Fresh Bucks. So, $10 becomes $20!  Double-Up Days will run now through the end of November. (Limited $50 in matching dollars per person, while supplies last. Some restrictions apply. See Market Manager for details.)
ALPINE FARMERS MARKET is committed to providing healthy food the entire community. Stop by, shop local and support local every Saturday 9 am to 2 p, at ALPINE FARMERS MARKET.
ALPINE FARMERS MARKET . . . MAKE IT A WEEKLY HABIT!
