ALPINE —- Glittering, sexy evening gowns and elegant accessories wowed a crowd at the “Fall Into Fashion” show in Alpine!
Presented by La Boutique of Alpine, Soroptimist International of Alpine and the Alpine Woman’s Club, guests had a good time on Sept. 7 while raising money for Soroptimist charities.
La Boutique, the Alpine Soroptimists and the Alpine Woman’s Club are members of the Alpine Mountain Empire Chamber of Commerce, which sponsored the by-invitation-only event in Alpine’s historic former Town Hall at 2156 Alpine Blvd.
“I just thought it was fabulous and amazing,” Vivian Wood of Alpine said later. “Such fun and such beautiful clothes.”
With drawing assistance from Naomi Tweed, 7, delighted winners of more than 15 opportunity gifts and baskets went home with lovely hand bags, accessories, beauty products, gift cards and other items.
The prizes were sponsored by Sunrise Massage — Loretta-Rose Jorgenson HHP MT; Earth Wind and Sea Florist; Ayres Lodge Alpine; Black Horse Gourds;  Barons Market; Mary Kay Cosmetics; Virginia Fellows, CPA, and La Boutique.
Christine Connell, president of the Alpine Library Friends Association, deftly and humorously emceed the program, pointing out fashion details and possibilities.
During brief community comments on stage, Connell updated the progress of the new Alpine library and ALFA’s fund raising for furniture and interior amenities.
“The county’s approved the funding for the building,” Connell told the audience. “ALFA has raised $325,000.  We need to raise another $400,000, so be prepared for us to contact you.”
That drew another laugh before Chamber Treasurer Virginia S. Fellows of Virginia Fellows, CPA, and Soroptimist President Patty Tweed gave quick updates for their organizations.
For the show, Roberto Saldivar and Ceci Inzunza, co-owners of La Boutique at 2218 Alpine Blvd., selected flattering fall attire that is comfortable, charming and sometimes a little daring.
Looking sophisticated in elegant gowns by such designers as Adrianna Papell, the JS Collection and Patra, models Carlette Anderson, Mercedes Weiss, Mariana and Iliana Inzunza, and Diana Zavala sashayed across the stage. Nick Weiss escorted them to the main floor for flirty turns.
Models Tere Mestas, Estivali Orozco, Sofia and Andrea Izar, Paola Cabrera, Sara Youngers, Mireya Tweed and Karen Donoghue also confidently strolled in evening attire, casual clothes, scarves and hats in brilliant fall colors. Sally, a show dog, even took a tail wagging runway turn!
Guests Lisa Boetjer of Alpine and Josie O’Brien of Poway were delighted with the event and the low prices they paid for necklace and earrings sets at La Boutique’s Bazaar booth.
Additional vendors included April’s Body Works, K’s Handbags & Accessories, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Doterra Essential Oils, Pampered Chef, Thirty-One Gifts, Scentsy, Rock Canyon Vineyards, the Alpine Woman’s Club, Alpine Soroptimists and Veronica’s Kitchen.
Boetjer was also pleased at seeing the younger, more diverse participants at the benefit.
“It shows that young families are coming into Alpine,” she said. “We’re not a mountain town.  We’re part of metropolitan San Diego.”
Saldivar and Inzunza thanked everyone for their participation, including Phat Party Productions for music and lighting, photographer Jose Inzunza, Deli-cieux Coffee Shop for refreshments and the Alpine Soroptimists’ welcome hostesses.
