Night Out Against Crime is a celebration of community relationships. As the community began to gather, the local deputies were happy to meet and greet the population, and the children.  There was a lot of information regarding the position that the sheriff takes in the community, the job that they do protecting the community, and the camaraderie that is created when you know your local law enforcement.

Everyone was able to take part in and learn about the Bob Arson unit, and see the bomb arson robot.  There were educational opportunities about the Sheriff’s Crime Prevention practices, the search and rescue team was there along with animals that they use in these instances such as dogs and mules.  The Senior Volunteer Patrol was there offering information about the part they play in the Sheriff’s duties to our community.
Also, there were opportunities to explore equipment like the patrol car, fire truck ambulance, and a mini patrol car that was just interesting to see.  The Alpine Fire Protection District was there along with CHP, Mercy Medical Transport and Mountain Health and Community Services.  The Alpine Kiwanis were available for Free Hot Dogs Chips and Drinks with their famous Cook Shack.
