Pine Valley Opens their homes with Holiday Cheer to help the local library
The Friends of the Pine Valley Library began what they hope will be an annual tradition with a beautiful home tour, featuring intricately decorated homes for the holiday. Eight homeowners signed on to share their holiday spirit and their décor with visitors who were ready to garner some Christmas spirit. Each home was a spectacular example of how to spruce up your domain with everything from the traditional to the cute and quirky.
The Community Center was open for all to gear up for this event with crafters offering beautifully tooled items such as hand carved and painted gourds, paintings, ceramic holiday decor items, hand knitted scarves and a variety of stained glass mosaic art pieces. Also, before you begin, an array of treats were available along with coffee and tea.
The first home on the tour was a charming Granny Flat that exuded coziness, and an inviting demeanor. It was tucked back on a dirt road, and was decorated in ‘shabby chic’ but really sported a well planned out and cohesive décor.
The second home was situated on the corner of Corte Madera Road and Old Hwy. 80. Many may remember seeing curious yard sculptures made from clay pots. These yard sculptures began as a small curio, and grew into large “Pot People” who add to the charming appeal of this manicured yard and garden. The personality portrayed in each figure was seasoned with newly planted poinsettas erupting from their heads, giving them holiday ‘hair-dos’ for the tour. As you enter the home, a flurry of stuffed snowmen flank the porch with a welcoming whimsy. The inside of this home is decorated with traditional grace and flare, using a red and gold theme adorning the dining table, Christmas tree and candle sconces that are dressed for the season.
There was a log cabin home that made one long for a simpler time, but with amenities that kept the comfort level of modern days. Also on the tour, homes showcasing the owners’ artistic talents through homemade ornaments, and baked goodies that made your mouth water. The beauty of each of these homes, along with the intricate décor started a warm glow of desire to rush home and do something original in your own abode.
