Teaching is still a job. It

Teaching is still a job. It is unreasonable to suggest that because of the nature of their job that teachers should not stand up for fair and appropriate compensation. We would not ask that of any other profession. They too have families to support and bills to pay. Not to mention that like with any occupation, the better the compensation the more an employer can require of their employees, and therefore we may get a better employee. Should they lose their homes and healthcare in order to educate your child because of the moral obligation implicit in education? Likewise in developed nations all over the world teachers are respected, valued and paid accordingly. In America we expect them to work for less, with less support and do more. I'm happy the Alpine teachers are standing up for themselves and teaching our children, through their own example, to not accept anything less than what they have earned and rightfully deserve.
