Yikes.....I appreciate that

Yikes.....I appreciate that this will inconvience families, but I hope you have read what the teacher's have been offered and the costs they are being asked to make at this late date in their contract year. I'm pretty sure that knowing as many teachers as I do, and the amount of personal time and money that they put into the classroom because the DO love kids, that they are happy about this choice. From what I have read, they are being asked to take 30% paycuts. Because it's so late in the year, some teachers will owe much of their remaining cut pay for the new, giant jump in health care. THe district should at least be required to honor their contracts for the year, and allow teachers to decide next year if they choose to work next year. If Alpine had spent their money on improvements wisely, and timely, I wonder if this crisis would have be averted and not expected to be solved by teachers, who had no choices in other choices the Board has made in other areas of the district in the past. Sad all the way around....there will be no winners, and heart breaking personal hurt and loss.
