The Pow Wow originally meant celebration, and when everyone gathered for this special event, it was a true celebration with all the traditional costume, song and dance. This event allows for a true immersion of the heretage of the tribal communities.

The Pow Wow also has religious significance, it was a time for families to hold naming and honoring ceremonies. The celebration was also a prayer to the one called Wakan Tanka – the Great Mystery or Great Spirit in Lakota.
